Launch of the Krasnodar Territory – Crimea gas pipeline
Vladimir Putin, the President of Russia, launched the Krasnodar Territory – Crimea gas pipeline. The gas pipeline, which connects peninsula’s gas transmission system with Russia’s cross-country gas pipelines, has been constructed by STROYGAZMONTAZH Group much ahead of schedule.
The video conference of gas pipeline launch was held with Sergey Aksyonov, Head of the Republic of Crimea, and Dmitri Ovsyannikov, Acting Governor of Sevastopol, from Moscow, as well as Igor Shabanov, CEO of Chernomorneftegaz, from Simferopol.
The total length of the Krasnodar Territory – Crimea gas pipeline is 358.7 km, including two-string crossing over the Tuzla lake and the Kerch Strait, plus 27.3 km gas lateral to Simferopol. Up to 1,200 people were engaged, 460 pcs of equipment and over 40 ships were used in construction.
Over 60 sites of archeological heritage were discovered during construction. The whole route was cleared of UXO from the World War II, including offshore part.
Real-time seismic control and monitoring system was implemented along the route to record dangerous events (gas pipeline deformation, seismic events, etc.) as the seismic hazard of the region is very high (magnitude 8 and more).
