SGM has constructed a temporary checkpoint for the Power of Siberia
Temporary bi-directional checkpoint at the Russian-Chinese border and closed security zone were constructed by SGM Group within the Power of Siberia gas pipeline project – the largest Russian gas transportation facility under construction.
The checkpoint is located near Verkhneblagoveshchensky settlement on the Amur river. It’ll be used mostly by the Chinese builders, as well as for cargo and construction equipment transportation. The construction is performed at the request of LLC Gazprom transgaz Tomsk. The General Contractor is LLC STROYGAZMONTAZH, and the Contractor is JSC Lengazspetsstroy.
In compliance with the agreement between PAO Gazprom and China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) the Chinese party will construct underwater crossings over the Amur river at the main and back-up gas pipeline strings. For this purpose the microtunnelling technique (tunneling shield) was chosen. Thus, on the Chinese territory we’ll see an entry shafts and on the Russian side – exit shafts.
There was temporary checkpoint constructed – for border and customs control – to provide Chinese builders with free access to the Russian territory during the project. The infrastructure of the dock was developed; an office, a kennel, an entry facilities for vehicles were constructed; and the site for construction camp was developed for the needs of the project. Upon crossings construction, somewhere by 2018, the checkpoint will be dismantled.
