The President of Russia Vladimir Putin came to check the progress of Artek’s construction
The President of the RF Vladimir Putin has paid a visit to the Artek International Children’s Centre and announced the opening of the new shift dedicated to Samantha Smith, an American schoolgirl.
The President has checked the way of Artek’s modernization by SGM Group, in particular, the progress of the Solnechny camp construction. During an excursion around the Artek Vladimir Putin was accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister Olga Golodets, Head of the Republic of Crimea Sergei Aksyonov and Presidential Aide Andrei Fursenko.
The Centre’s director Andrei Kasprzhak informed the President that nine out of ten camps are currently in operation, thus Lazurny, Kiparisny, Yantarny, Khrustalny, Morskoy, Rechnoy, Ozerny, Lesnoy and Polevoy camps can host 3.3 thousand children per shift. When the modernization is over the Artek Children’s Centre will accept up to 10 thousand children per shift.
From 2014 to 2017 SGM Group has performed modernization of over 280 thousand square meters of different facilities, including 9 camps (96.5 thousand square meters), roads (23 km), utilities (19 km), 6 canteens, 9 sport grounds, 3 tennis courts, fitness center with 2 pools, medical block, etc. Adult education center (6 thousand square meters), climbing wall and ropes course were put into operation.
By 2017, three living buildings of Pribrezhny camp were built, as well as the Artek-Arena entertainment center for 4.5 thousand seats. The construction of new camp has just started; the Solnechny camp is designed for 1,000 children and occupies 6.1 hectares.
During the visit the President of Russia Vladimir Putin has met with children and had a look at the Children’s Centre’s model. Being near Gorny camps he watched the video clip about the lifestyle of the Centre, prepared by STROYGAZMONTAZH.
